Canvassing Begins on June 2nd in Incline!

The 2018 Midterm is the most important election in which we will ever participate, and we need to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. We must take back the House and Senate to put the brakes on the rampant corruption and self-dealing brought to Washington by Trump and his crime family. We're determined to turn Incline blue! We have some fabulous new door-hangers (below) to post on Democratic doors and we're looking for YOUR help to make sure every Incline Dem gets one. Starting on June 2nd, we will be going door to door all over Incline talking to people and making sure every registered Democrat gets out and gets active. Join us on one or both days at 11 AM for a short training session with experienced canvassers, then we'll hit the streets (and join up afterward for a fun debrief and food at Brewforia)!

When: Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3, 2018 at 11 AM

More Info: E-mail us if you want to help turn Incline blue! Or call Coralin at 714-623-1814 or Coral at 775-412-8777.

The Washoe Dems are holding "Decline To Sign" phone banks

The NV GOP has started a Recall Campaign on three of Nevada's great Democratic State Senators. It is up to all Nevadans to show the NV GOP that we won't stand for this! To help with the efforts to stop the recalls of Senators Joyce Woodhouse, Patricia Farley, and Nicole Cannizzaro, we are calling on all Northern Nevadans to call into their district to tell them to Decline To Sign! We will be phone banking every Wednesday, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, and Saturday from 10:00am to 12:00pm. More info and sign-ups can be found here.

white House Watch

• "By the way, it isn’t just environmentalists who want us to remain a part of the Paris accord. Exxon Mobil lobbied for us to stay in it. Shell wanted us in it. Walmart supported it. Because apparently these big companies ran the numbers, and it turns out if climate change destroys human life on Earth, it could be bad for business." (Jimmy Kimmel)

• "Two words: subpoena power." (California Congressman Ted Lieu, on why winning back the House in 2018 is so important)

• Republicans continue to hide their heads in the sand when it comes to the Trump-Russia investigation, but the upcoming testimony by fired FBI Director James Comey promises to blow the lid off the White House's efforts to make it go away.

• We love you, Dear Leader: "President Trump has a magnetic personality and exudes positive energy, which is infectious to those around him. He has an unparalleled ability to communicate with people, whether he is speaking to a room of three or an arena of 30,000. He has built great relationships throughout his life and treats everyone with respect. He is brilliant with a great sense of humor . . . and an amazing ability to make people feel special and aspire to be more than even they thought possible.” (Hope Hicks, White House spokesperson, who clearly drank the Kool-Aid)

• "The president and a small group of people know exactly what he meant." (Sean Spicer, on Trump's infamous "Despite the constant negative press covfefe" tweet)

• "Idiot." "Incompetent." "Liar." (The top three responses in a Quinnipiac poll, which asked respondents to name the first word that came to mind when thinking about Trump)

• Check out Al Franken's new book "Al Franken, Giant of the Senate" - a very amusing read (poor Ted Cruz)!

NTD In Action

Sometimes We Win
After a week of holding the bill on his desk, hostage to the voucher mayhem at the NV Legislature, and with a few hours left on the clock, Sandoval signed SB233 which includes all the provisions of AB249 PLUS preventive care like mammograms and prenatal care.
Too Often We Lose
Unfortunately, SB265, which sought to lower the cost of essential diabetes drugs, by requiring companies to report the costs of producing and marketing the drug along with any rebates that they provide for the drugs, was vetoed by Governor Sandoval.
Upcoming Partner Action - Nevada Conservation League Petition Signature Drop-off
Tuesday, June 6th from 10-11am
Meeting in front of the State Legislature and then walking next door to Capitol.
Thousands of petition signatures from across the state in favor of AB206 will be presented to show the bipartisan support for clean energy legislation and urging the Governor to sign it. Bring signs.

March Madness!

• The Russia intrigue continues, as disgraced former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn pleads for immunity in exchanged for his story. Devin Nunes, chair of the House Intelligence Committee (and member of the Trump transition team), tried to prop up his best buddy in the White House by revealing a nonexistent "bombshell" about surveillance on the Trump team, but shot himself in the foot by lying to everyone about the source of the information. Not incidentally, he also completely destroyed the integrity of his committee's investigation - and himself.

• Congressman Eric Swalwell has connected the dots between the Trump campaign and Russia and put it into a nifty visual diagram on his government Web site. Thanks, Eric! Politico also did a nice job on a Trump-Russia timeline

We may have the cure for what ails you.

• Trump, who mocked President Obama for spending too much time on the links, has golfed at least 12 times since he took office. Gives a whole new meaning to the word "duffer."

• The ill-conceived Republican health care bill died before it even came to a vote. Just a little bit satisfying, considering how many times Republicans have said the ACA was in a "death spiral."

• Trump, who has called global warming a "Chinese hoax," has begun the process of reversing climate change regulations and laws. It helps that his head of the EPA has sued the agency multiple times and would like to see it disabled entirely.

Here's what's been happening in Washington.

• The final price tag was reportedly more than $60 million for a pair of books to be written by the Obamas (one each from Michelle and Barack). "With their words and their leadership, they changed the world,” says Penguin Random House CEO Markus Dohle.

• National Security Adviser Mike Flynn is gone. One kook down, many to go.

• Republican hypocrisy continues, with Mitch McConnell accusing Dems of dragging their feet in confirming Trump's nominees. Um, does the word "obstructionism" ring a bell, Mitch? As in 8 years' worth?! Not to mention the stolen Supreme Court seat.

• The only way to get to the bottom of the ties between Russia and the Trump campaign is to appoint a special prosecutor and/or an independent, 9/11-style commission. Unfortunately, Republicans seem completely incurious about Trump & Co.'s Russia connections (not to mention tax returns, conflicts of interest, and ongoing corruption). MoveOn created this terrific television ad demanding answers.

• Take a look at some of the reactions Republican lawmakers are getting at their town halls in this video from The New York Times.
